Now, More Than Ever, I Need Legitimate Home Employment

by Jessica Franks

It’s not that I’m against working outside of the home, I mean it’s tiring going to one job why would I want two (2) jobs outside the home? I wish I could find \”Legitimate home employment’ situation. I read an article someplace that stated that no one can get rich working one menial job. All of these self help gurus make me want to hurl!!! They never ever provide the actual places they go to find home employment opportunities because they are full of it they don’t actually know of any.

I have heard of home employment throught advertising and other sources but I don’t know anyone who actually makes a living at it. Even people who have their own business and work from their home must leave it in order to conduct business.

I once purchased software to do medical billing from home; however, the start up was just too much for me. I would have to find my own clients and this also meant leaving the house to cold call doctor’s offices. Too much up front time would have to be expended in order to get a business of this nature off the gound.

I believe that I am not a lazy person. I would be happy to have my work monitored as I really need a second income to make ends meet and am willing to to whatever it takes to work from home.

I have gone so far as to purchase medical billing software which put me out $500! Unfortunately, the set up was just too much for me while I continued to work a full time job. Once again the job really required the person to put in full-time effort with no way to make immediate money.

Also, with the so called \”home employment\” scams being offered, you would have to file paperwork to set up your business. So this is really not an option for me or most people looking for an additional income from a job that could be done from home.

Wouldn’t it be nice if you could come up with an idea like the \”Pet Rock\”? Now there is someone who took their intellectual property to the bank. Sensational ideas like this one, however, also require some type of capital to get the idea off the gound.

Lastly, what makes me laugh is this if ‘Legitimate home employment’ was really out there all of us and I do mean all of us would be using it. Sorry Ginger there isn’t really a Santa Clause. I always hoped that it was just me, that I didn’t know how to look for \”Legitimate home employment\” that it was something I lacked that prevented me from finding it. Where was I searching that was incorrect. I hope one day I find out.

Small Dog Training Techniques

by Lee Dobbins

One of the most effective ways to train smaller dog breeds is by using rewards based dog training techniques. This is because the smaller dogs are too tiny for collar correction types of training and they could become injured. This training also works for larger breeds and is the recommended type of training that has been used to train generations of dogs.

The use of reward training for your pet is an effectivr way of teaching obedience and good behavior. This training technique is use by both the police and military in training their dogs to perform various actions. It is also used by those who train animals for TV and movies. Reward training is a great way to teach all dogs whether they are a family pet or a working dog.

Reward training is based on giving a treat or reward when your dog performs the behavior you desire. Most often it means a special treat, but simply telling your dog that he was a good boy and patting him on the head can be construed as a wonderful reward for your dog.

You can train your dog to do nearly anything with reward based dog training techniques. In order to succeed with this training method, you just need to use a specific group of tactics to get your pet to do what you want him to do and then reward him right after he does what you want.

For example, the best and easy way to teach your dog to sit is by way of dangling the treat above his head and gradually moving it towards his back until he sits on his own. Do this process while saying the command “sit”, and then commend and reward him right after he sits. Your dog will easily relate the command “sit” to the action of sitting and the treat that goes with it.

If you want to train your dog without the use of voice commands, then you can take advantage of the reward training method known as clicker training. With this method, a clicker is used (usually along with hand signals) to communicate the desired task to the dog. Just like with a voice command, once the dog performs the task he is rewarded with the treat. Over time, the clicker is all that will be necessary for the dog to respond.

If you have patience and energy, you can train your dog to perform difficult tricks and tasks by using reward training, a technique that is often used in the field of entertainment. One thing that works well is to get the dog to perform the action naturally. As soon as the dog succeeds at the task, his success is reinforced with a reward.

Training your pet should be a fulfilling tasks for both you and your animal. The use of reward based dog training techniques will allow you and your pet to achieve your goals without the use of aggressive techniques which may injure or scare your small dog.

Select The Proper Hinge For Your Project

by Jerry Blackburn

Choose The Right Hinge For Your Project

Because the display of hinges in a home improvement and hardware stores can be dizzying to the inexperienced homeowner, many need some help to know which hinge is correct for the woodworking project or home repair. The first essential step would be to narrow the selection based on weight, shape and size, so that the hinge will be appropriate for the materials used in the project. Large heavy hinges are fine for doors, but not appropriate for smaller, delicate wooden boxes and so on.

In addition, some hinges are designed as reversible hinges, so that either end can be mounted to the top. Other hinges are more decorative and must be installed in a certain position. There are also hinges for left-hand and right-hand doors to consider as well. The loose-pin hinge used for hanging doors is made so that the hinge pin is inserted and removed from the top. Right-hand hinges and left-hand hinges can be distinguished by simply standing on the outer side of the door to see if the door opens to the right side or to the left side.

One detail that some do-it-yourself homeowners don’t consider is how much of the hinge will be visible when the project is complete. If the hinge shows, it may be best to choose something more decorative, though some homeowners prefer simple and functional hinges to show as well. This depends on personal taste. Some people prefer the hinge to be hidden, so thought should be given to how the hinge will function in this case.

Shopping for the appropriate hinges can be much easier if the homeowner can ask good questions and understands the printed information about each type. This list may help.

? Back flap hinge ? a version of the butt hinge, commonly used for furniture

? Ball-bearing hinge ? permanently lubricated but slightly more expensive, for heavy-duty doors

? Butt hinge ? normally range in size from 13 mm to 150 mm. Varieties include rigid pin and loose pin. Often used for mounting home doors and cabinet doors

? Butterfly hinge ? for lightweight doors, in a variety of shapes and patterns

? Double-acting hinge ? opens in either direction, usually on folding doors

? Flush hinge ? less strength than butt hinge, often used for cabinets, concealed except for hinge barrel

? Knuckle hinges ? loose joint hinge, decorative, shows only the knuckle

? Offset blind hinge ? full opening and swing away, screen/storm doors

? Parliament hinges ? when hinge pin must extend past door face

? Pivot hinge ? versatile, recessed doors, overlay doors, flush doors

? Spring-loaded hinge ? automatically closes door, adjustable tension available

? Table top hinges ? leaf section tables

? Concealed hinges ? 25 mm to 36 mm in size, adjustable after fitting, chipboard and MDF

In addition to these hinges, there are a number of specialty hinges, including the strap hinge, T-hinge and continuous hinges. Some are designed for heavy-duty use while the continuous hinge is perfect for chest lids, cabinets and so on. A piano hinge is a continuous hinge.

Heart Disease - Public Enemy #1?

by Richard H Ealom

INTRODUCTION: Heart disease is a number of abnormal conditions that affect the heart and its blood vessels. Also called cardiovascular disease, it primarily affects older persons and indicates that there are problems with the heart and arteries.

It has become the #1 cause of death in the USA, is a major cause of disablement, doesn’t go away, but by working with your MD, you can live longer and feel better. Types of cardiovascular disease include: Coronary artery disease (CAD), the most common type and is the number one cause of heart attacks.

In 2003, almost two times as many women died of cardiovascular disease (both heart disease and stroke) than from all cancers combined. The older a woman becomes, the more likely she is to develop cardiovascular problems; however women at all ages should be concerned.

African American and Hispanic American/Latina women are more likely to develop heart disease because they tend to have more risk factors such as obesity, not enough exercise, high blood pressure, and diabetes than Caucasian women. Women of color are also more apt to die of the disease.

Having diabetes raises your chances of getting heart disease and high levels of triglycerides are linked to the disease in some people. Also Being overweight increases your risk. Chest or arm pain or discomfort can be a symptom of cardiovascular disease and a warning sign of an actual or impending heart attack.

If your father or brother had a heart attack before age 55, or if your mom had one before age 65, you’re more likely to get heart disease. Birth control pills can present risks for some women, especially women older than 35, women with elevated blood pressure, diabetes, or high cholesterol and those who smoke.

Almost 700,000 people die of heart disease in the U.S. each year. You can find out more about heart disease by contacting the National Women’s Health Information Center at 1-800-994-9662.

The chance of developing coronary disease can be reduced by taking steps to prevent and control those factors that put people at larger risk for cardiovascular disease and heart attack. The very best ways to prevent the disease are to control high blood pressure, diabetes or a elevated cholesterol level and, if you smoke, STOP SMOKING.

CHOLESTEROL: What does high cholesterol have to do with heart disease? Cholesterol can clog your arteries and keep your heart from getting the blood it needs. People with high blood cholesterol or high blood triglycerides often have no symptoms, so have your blood cholesterol and triglyceride levels checked regularly. If your levels are high, talk to your doctor about what you can do to lower them. You may be able to lower your levels by eating better and exercising more, if not, your doctor may prescribe medication to lower and bring it under control.

When there is excess cholesterol in your blood, it can build up on the walls of your arteries, forming plaque and causing blood clots. There are basically 2 types of cholesterol: Low-density lipoprotein (LDL) is frequently called the “bad” type because it can block the arteries that carry blood to your heart. High-density lipoprotein (HDL) is called the “good” type because it takes the bad cholesterol out of your blood and stops it from building up in your arteries.

All females age 20 and older should have their blood cholesterol and triglyceride levels checked at least once every 5 ys. If you are overweight, reducing your weight can help decrease your total cholesterol as well as LDL (”bad cholesterol”) levels.

Try to eat more foods low in saturated fats, trans fats, and cholesterol. Skim (fat-free) or low-fat (1%) milk and cheeses, and low-fat or nonfat yogurt, Fruits and vegetables (try for 5 a day), Cereals, breads, rice, and pasta made from whole grains (such as “whole-wheat” or “whole-grain” bread and pasta, rye bread, brown rice, and oatmeal), Eat less organ meats (liver, kidney, brains), Egg yolks, Fats (butter, lard) and oils, Packaged and processed foods.

There are 2 diets that may help reduce your cholesterol: Heart Healthy Diet and Therapeutic Lifestyles Changes (TLC) Diet. Exercise can help reduce LDL (”bad cholesterol”) and raise HDL (”good cholesterol”). If your MD has prescribed medicine to reduce your cholesterol, take it exactly as you have been told to.

CONCLUSION: Heart disease is not contagious - you can’t catch it like you can influenza or a cold. It is a general term that refers to a variety of acute and chronic medical problems that affect one or several components of the heart. The symptoms you describe to your MD will help to decide if you need to be tested for heart disease. Your MD will also check if you have any conditions that can increase your risk of getting the disease.

These conditions include: high blood pressure, diabetes, smoking, high cholesterol level, menopause in women, family members who have had heart disease at a young age. If you have cardiovascular disease, your angina can be treated by treating the heart disease. Maintaining a healthy diet and weight plus a regular exercise program can help you avoid heart disease.

Teach Kids The Value of Money

by Rachel Ray

Many teens now don’t seem to understand the value of spending and earning money. Many times the thought of investing even if they are still students doesn’t cross their minds. As parents, you are a vital role model in this area.

Start when the kids are young if possible and teach them to save a portion of their money. This helps this learn better the concept of money and investment. It helps to lay a foundation to learn healthy money management as they grow older. Although it’s never too late to try to start teaching.

Here’s some ideas to teach the kids how to save money:

1. Your children should be educated of the meaning of money. Once your children have learned how to count, that is the perfect time for you teach them the real meaning of money. You should be consistent and explain to them in simple ways and do this frequently so that they may be able to remember what you taught them.

2. Teach them about saving money. Why it’s important and how it will impact their lives. It’s important to allow them to ask questions about money to you, and sharpens you in the process as you respond to their questions.

3. When giving them their allowances. You need to give them their allowances in denominations. Then you can encourage them that they should keep a certain bill for the future. You can motivate them to do this by telling them that the money can be saved and they can buy a new pair of shoes or the toys they want once they are able to save.

4. Teach them the lesson of working. Pay them (or find someone willing), to small odd jobs or chores around the house. This will help them with the concept that money needs to be earned, and not just simply given, just because. They will also learn to value it more when it’s something they had to work for.

5. You can teach them to save money by giving them piggy banks where they can put coins and wait until they get full. You can also open bank accounts for them and let them deposit money from their allowance. You should always show them how much they have earned to keep them motivated.

Money and saving is not something that is learned by children in one sitting. You should be patient in teaching them and relating the value of money in all of their activities. Children will learn this easily if you are patient and consistent in guiding them and encouraging them in this endeavor.

Children’s Halloween Costumes

by Phil Sikes

Homemade children’s Halloween costumes can be fun to make if your children help, but you have to consider the cost and time you put into it if the children are not participating and learning how to do it with you. Sometimes it can be more economical to save your time and buy a ready made costume at the prices now available in the shops.

In order to keep expenses down on homemade children’s costumes, use old clothes you find at home or in thrift stores as the basis for the outfits. If you do this, the majority of the work on the costume will be related to the accessories, which are more fun to design and make anyway.

Take for example a scarecrow outfit. Somewhere in your family closets there is likely to be a well worn, torn and frayed pair of jeans, and an old shirt. You may even be able to find an old straw hat. From that foundation costume, glue some straw under the hat and around the cuffs of the shirt and pants.

The details could include a bird sitting on the scarecrow’s hat and some creative face painting. The idea is to create a unique and interesting look.

Another similar example is that of a pirate. The essential parts of this Halloween get up are an old shirt, cut down jeans, and a bandana. Again, this costume will rely on the details that you choose to add. Don’t leave out a sword, broad belt, tattoos, and an eye patch. Make-up or face paint can add another fun touch.

A simple witch costume starts with nothing more than a long sleeved turtle neck and a pair of stretchy pants. Just add a long black cape, a tall pointy hat, and whatever other details you want.

Other colors could become animal costumes with the addition of a tail, ears, mittens and some face paint. Some costume shops have partial costumes such as faces, noses, tails and ears available to add these features to your basic costume.

If your child decides to dress up as a tiger this Halloween, then all you really need to get started is some orange clothing and black fabric paint to make stripes with. Lots of kids love Winnie the Pooh. Making this costume requires little more than a yellow outfit filled with some stuffing.

During this time, you should think about whether you want to move on or try to get her back. If you can, make an effort to avoid her for one month.

Of course, if she works or goes to school with you, most likely you will not be able to avoid seeing her on a regular basis.I f you are faced with this situation, you should not pretend that you do not see her. You don’t need to talk to her if you don’t want to. In fact, you will want to minimize your conversation with her. You should at the very least remain amicable and acknowledge her should you meet . If, after a month, you decide to you want your girlfriend back this will leave the door wide open.

Keeping Busy After You Retire

by Lee Dobbins

When you work, you often return home with a sense of having gotten something done. Outside of the “honey-do” list your spouse gives you, you are not going to feel the same way you did at work once you retire. You may feel like your best years are gone and there’s nothing to do. But you don’t have to feel that way - you can construct your own list of things you like to do and pursue those.

Your retirement should be thought of as a reward for your hard work, for you to finally relax and enjoy a slower life - like taking a Sunday drive instead of a 70 MPH commute. With all the extra time you have now, you can do all those things you were previously too busy for.

In the summer when it’s hot, you probably think about how nice and cool winter was–and vice versa. When your toes were cold you probably longed for July. The same is true for retirement–focus on your memories of some of the stressful times at work. Retirement is the reward you get for surviving those.

It’s surprising, perhaps, to realize that the feelings you have about retirement aren’t all good. It’s scary to have large blocks of time to yourself when you are used to having a boss and a list of things to do. It will take awhile to adjust, but in a few months, you will find yourself relaxing and enjoying yourself.

Want more excitement during your retirement days? Take a look at these ideas:

1. Why don’t you start a hobby that you’ve always wanted to try? Maybe an artist is hidden inside of you - start now and take lessons. Take a look at jewelry making or cooking.

2. Retirement is a great time to get serious about your hobbies. If you’ve always loved singing, painting, or other diversions, now you have time to devote to your passion.

3. If you always wanted to volunteer at a church, hospital or animal shelter, but never had the time to do it, retirement opens up a whole new world of possibilities. Volunteering gives you the chance to help others and be a vital part of your community.

4. Retirement is a great time to get back in contact with old friends. Now that work and children are no longer getting in your way, you can take the time to locate people you haven’t talked to in years, and reminisce about the past.

5. There are many travel opportunities for retired people, from Senior-Citizen discounts on hotels to tours designed specifically for retired people to teach you new skills and ideas. Find out what’s out there and begin to enjoy it!
